Hi Al, Tom

Just wanted to keep you in the loop of what's going on in my head.

I reserved a small, nineteen-foot camper for our trip next summer, and I seem to have got the RV bug. (I owned a van/camper 30 years ago), and I'm thinking about looking for a used one, and hitting the road for six months or a year after I retire. Maybe I could sublet the apartment, and go travel around to all the places I've always wanted to see, or to see again, while I am young enough and healthy enough to do it.

Once I come home, I still want to settle down and start minding the kids. I love you guys like crazy and you’ll be the most difficult aspect of leaving NY. Wherever you are, that’s my home, because that’s where my heart is. If I were to keep the RV for a little while longer than the year, it could be parked over at Nickerson beach--Grammie's home in LB!
I have joined a couple RVing women groups online that have rolling rallies, and camping meet-ups. These groups sound really interesting, and I think they'd be lots of fun.
I don't want to spike your plans of going back to work Al, but I can feel this ache to just have a bunch of time off as I transition from work-life into retirement life.
This may all just sit parked on the retirement fantasy list, or I may just do it. Dunno for a while yet, but I did want to send a heads up.

Joining The Online RV Community

Last year, at the Country Living Fair in Rhinebeck NY, Ed and I walked past some beautifully restored vintage Shasta trailers, and he dragged me over to tour inside a few of them. The group calls themselves, “Sisters on the Fly.” They travel all over the country and meet up at various events. Some do crafts for sale at the fair. Not sure what else they do besides restoring and customizing their trailers, but the idea of the group was intriguing to me. I typed it into my Reminders List on my phone, and forgot about it.

But once I started this camping fantasy I remembered, and found them on line. I quickly joined the group, but kept on researching, until I also found and joined RV Women, and the LGBT group, Rainbow RV. In just a few hours, I found a whole community of people who love to RV and seem to enjoy each other’s company (actual or virtual).
